Description
artificials.ch is an independent game studio located in Switzerland near Olten made up by Christian Liesch. We do fun simple games inspired by old school games, movies, and everything around us.
History
2015 I wanted to figure out how test-driven development works. It was clear to me that I don’t want to explore test-driven development with yet another bank account example and what could be more exciting than a game, right? And I could prove to my mates that you even can program games test-driven, so don’t tell me server software can’t be done test-driven. First, it was polycode because it featured Lua, something I was very interested to use at work too. But I also wanted to learn Java and stumbled over jMonkeyEngine. And there it all started and I fell in love with programming games.
Roboter Simulation
I wanted to write a robot simulation built with cubes, every cube has its logic and function. I did that with an abandoned game engine polycode. Its main purpose was to figure out how to write test-driven code in C++ and how to organize it.
Star War
With this little simple game https://github.com/ia97lies/StarWar I explored the entity-component system concept and wrote a series of articles on fprintf.logdown.com. Here you can find the first article.
Battleground
A multiplayer top-down spaceship game. It is fully functional including four battlegrounds and a tutorial level. It is still on steam in the beta shop so only visible to me and to those I once send a steam key.
Situation Normal: afu
All the learnings from the previous games lead to platform shooter game which is currently under development. I joined force with my son to make the game even better. If you are interested you can wishlist us on Steam.
